Who makes LocalUp and how we check AI visibility
LocalUp shows Riga businesses what AI assistants with web search tell their customers, and helps fix the reasons the AI recommends others. Here is who we are, how the check works, which data we use and where the limits are.

One person in Riga, not an agency
localup.lv is a small Riga project. We build the free check, a person reviews every AI trust plan (€49) before it is sent, and we do the “Done for you” work (€249) ourselves.
LocalUp works with local businesses in Riga: clinics, salons, repair shops, lawyers, cafés and anyone whose customers ask for a recommendation. Questions and suggestions: hello@localup.lv.
We don't guarantee a place in AI answers — nobody honestly can. We show what the AI answers, why, and what to put in order.
How the free check works
The check takes about a minute and needs no sign-up. At every step we show the source of each conclusion.
- 01
We find your business
In Google's business data (name, address, category, rating, review count, opening hours, website). You confirm it is you and pick your 2–3 most important services.
- 02
We ask the AI customers' questions
10 questions about your niche and city in Latvian and Russian (for cafés and restaurants also in English), plus questions about your services. An OpenAI model with web search answers; we count how many answers name you — “N of M”.
- 03
We compare you with competitors
The 3 businesses the AI named: AI mentions, Google reviews, niche directories, service pages and information in English.
- 04
We check your website and facts
Whether the AI can read your website without JavaScript and what robots.txt allows; whether your phone, address and hours match on Google, your website and directories. We only flag an error that at least two independent sources with links confirm.
- 05
3 first actions
The actions and the headline are built from fixed templates using the check's facts, not generated by AI.
Which data we use
- Public Google Business Profile data (through the Google Places API)
- Your website's public pages — as a bot sees them without JavaScript
- Public directory and list pages where the AI searches
- The AI's answers, its searches and the sources its search returned
- What you enter: your services and, if you like, your e-mail
We say “listed” in a directory only with a verified link, and “not listed” only when the directory's own search shows it; otherwise “unknown”, with a link to check yourself.
What the check cannot tell you
- The AI through the API is not the ChatGPT app: the app may use another model, location, memory and personalisation.
- AI answers change, so we count “N of M”, not a single answer.
- 10 questions are a sample, not every question your customers ask.
- We see what the AI searched for and named, not how the model chooses internally.
- The result reflects the day of the check; the re-check after 30 days asks the same questions.
What we saw when we put the checks together
In our study the AI searched the web before answering in 902 of 902 cases — 3.3 searches per answer on average.
When the customer asked in Russian, 759 of 1522 (50%) of the AI's searches were in English or mixed; for Latvian questions, 462 of 1419 (33%).
Directories and business lists were in the AI's search results for 618 of 902 (69%) of answers, but a link to a business the AI named went to that business's own website in 1860 of 1937 (96%) of cases.

Questions
Who stores my data, and for how long?
We keep free-check data for up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Details are in the privacy policy.
Can I run the check without a website?
Yes. We then look at your Google profile, directories and AI answers and skip the website check.
Is LocalUp affiliated with OpenAI or Google?
No. We use their public APIs as tools, but we are independent.
